Synopsis:
The challenges to public health have never been greater as we move further into the 21st century. Unhealthy lifestyles, the threat of communicable diseases, and the challenge of climate change demand that all the health professions work together. Local pharmacies are ideally placed to respond to these challenges, positioned as they are at the heart of our communities.
Biography:
Professor Richard Parish is Chief Executive of the Royal Society for Public Health, a multidisciplinary organisation whose membership comprises pharmacists, public health specialists and many others. Richard has held senior academic appointments in York and Sheffield, and has been a Chief Executive in the NHS.
Currently he holds Honorary Professorial positions at a number of universities and is a board member for the International Union for Health Promotion and Education. He is a regular advisor to the international agencies, including the World Health Organisation.
