There’s significant change taking place in the NHS at the moment and this show is the ideal place for professionals to network, interact and discuss what the future might hold. There are other conferences around, but nothing quite like this one. It’s an important event. It gives me an ideal opportunity to put key messages across. I talk to a lot of chief pharmacists and leaders, but not enough to clinical pharmacists who see patients every day. This is a good opportunity to interact with clinical pharmacists at the front line.
Keith Ridge, Chief Pharmaceutical Officer, Department of Health
The organisers have created a clinical industry forum that gives pharmacy professionals the opportunity to network, pick up new information in their specialist areas and refresh their knowledge of other areas. The whole of the pharmacy profession needs to move towards clinical pharmacy and I believe this show will go from strength to strength.
David Brandford, Chief Hospital Pharmacist, Derbyshire Mental Health NHS Trust
The wide range of clinical subjects at this show is a big draw for people. It gives you a good overall view of what’s happening in the industry and keeps you up to date with the changes. As a pharmacist, I get something out of every presentation and take away a lot from this show.
Emma Wilson, Surgical Lead Pharmacist, Aintree University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
This is the first event to get all the disparate bits of pharmacy under one room. Even the big societies haven’t been able to do that. This is a forum where people come to meet others. I’m constantly being collared by people, which is what I’m here for. The show attracts people from all sectors so you hear viewpoints from across the board and that’s very important for pharmacy.
Duncan Petty, PCPA Chairman and Practice Pharmacist, Bradford
We don’t do enough on leadership in this industry, so this show is meeting a real need – delegates wouldn’t come here in such numbers if it didn’t. There’s a good buzz here.
Dr Chris Green, Director of Pharmacy & Medicines Management, Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
A show like this acts as a big support for pharmacists. It’s an ideal opportunity for pharmacists to meet their colleagues and peers working in clinical fields and has a good mix of clinical and policy. It’s a really useful event.
Heidi Wright, English Practice and Policy Lead, Royal Pharmaceutical Society
There are limited opportunities to share information within clinical pharmacy. Email is all very well, but you can’t beat face to face. It’s so important. This show allows pharmacists to listen, learn and ask questions. It also allows them to get different perspectives, which can be very useful in your day to day work.
Duncan McRobbie, Associate Chief Pharmacist – Clinical Services, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust
This is the only conference that brings together all the different areas of clinical pharmacy. It provides a great opportunity to get quality education – all of the people here give robust, evidence-based talks and there are some key networking opportunities here too. This show brings together like-minded pharmacists to share their wider knowledge, which will help our industry to develop faster.
Helen Williams, Consultant Pharmacist for Cardiovascular Disease, South London Cardiac and Stroke Network
This show is a very good investment of my time. It was useful to hear the Chief Pharmaceutical Officer speak and it’s been a good opportunity to see what’s happening in the industry and how we can work better. I’ve learned things here that I will discuss with my colleagues after the show.
William Rial, Clinical Advisor, NHS England
I’ve come from Abu Dhabi to be at this show. It’s an excellent place to learn about what’s happening in pharmacy, both now and in the future.
Dr Faris Al Masri, Head of Pharmacy Services, Ambulatory Healthcare Services
This forum hits all the right notes for the pharmacy industry. The sessions are well attended and the programming is perfectly pitched with the right mix of high level policy to give delegates a general overview to the more specific topics. There’s clearly a need for The Clinical Pharmacy Congress in the pharmacy industry.
Jonathan Mason, Clinical Advisor (Medicines), NHS England (London Area)
We are a relatively small profession so to get 1,600 people in one place is very impressive, and to my knowledge has never been done before. The whole show has a really good buzz about it and enables lots of discussions between delegates and the industry. It’s as much about meeting friends as finding out what’s going in the industry. An impressive event.
Roger Knaggs, Associate Professor in Clinical Pharmacy Practice, Nottingham University Hospital
This is a really good networking event. I’m amazed by how many people are here. I’ve met loads of people and have re-established some contacts. The sessions are useful and have got me thinking about what I can change when I get back to work.
Louise Coughlan, Chief Hospital Pharmacist, Croydon Healthcare NHS Trust
My staff told me how good this event was, so I’ve come along and I must say it’s very good indeed. It’s given me the chance to learn what is happening outside of my environment and about some of the advances taking place. The round table discussions also allow frank and open debate. We need a dedicated forum like this.
TF Chan, Chief Hospital Pharmacist, Barnet & Chase Farm Hospitals
We are at the edge of a movement to change the perception and value of pharmacy in the role of healthcare. Having a dedicated event for clinical pharmacy has real value in showcasing what we’re good at, which will help to change people’s perceptions of pharmacy.
Tina Campbell, Chief Pharmacist, Devon Partnership Mental Health Trust
This show gives you loads of opportunities to learn, network and keep in touch with the latest developments. There are lots of things I can take away from here today.
Gail Franklin, Lead Clinical Pharmacist, Kent and Canterbury Hospital
This is a really great event. I work in a private hospital so it’s great to be able to network with other pharmacists and have clinical discussions. It’s also good to see how others manage patients and what they do differently. The sessions are very informative and I’ve learned some new things here that I will be taking back to the hospital.
Themis Perrott, Hospital Pharmacist, Spire Health Care
This show is brilliant. You can do your own research and learning, but you can’t beat talking to leaders in their field, which you can do here. The sessions are very relevant and I’ve got lots of things to follow up.
Janice Miller, Hospital Pharmacist, BMI The Edgbaston Hospital
This show lets me know about what’s going on the industry, what’s new and how I can access it. And what I learn here I will present to my colleagues when I get back. Having the stands is also useful – I’ve just found a product that is much cheaper than what we are currently using, so will definitely be speaking to my colleagues about this too.
Oluseyi Alabi, Hospital Pharmacist, Croydon Healthcare NHS Trust
I’m a community pharmacist, but am clinically-orientated. Working in the community, you tend to forget the things you learned at pharmacy school, so this is a great refresher. It gives you the confidence in the services you offer. And having access to all the experts here is very inspiring.
Naman Shah, Lloyds Pharmacy, Birmingham
I came to the show last year and had a great experience. I work in a hospital and I learn about things here that can help improve our services. Having a forum which allows different pharmacists from across the industry to meet and share their knowledge is great for the pharmacy.
Ila Gandi, Hospital Pharmacist, Frenchay Hospital, North Bristol NHS Trust
In my day to day work, I just don’t get the opportunity to speak to people and I certainly don’t ever get to talk to suppliers. This show allows me to see what the current issues are and it’s a place for good debate. It also gives me the opportunity to meet freely with suppliers because my time is my own here.
Surinder Bassan, Independent Pharmaceutical Consultant
I’m here for the leadership and management sessions, but also for the great networking. The quality of speakers has been very impressive. I will try to influence policy at a higher level when I go back to work based on what I’ve learned here today.
James Harris, Specialist Hospital Pharmacist, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital
The show is very well organised and there’s a lot here for pharmacists. There’s loads of choice when it comes to programming and it’s been great to meet specialist pharmacists. This is a really valuable event.
Dinesh Gupta, Clinical Pharmacy Lead, Barking, Havering and Redbridge NHS Trust
A lot of people do their own training, but it’s very useful to learn from the experiences of others, who have been there and done it. Many pharmacists are very specialised and have no one to bounce ideas off. Here, they can meet pharmacists from all areas and share their knowledge and stay ahead of the game.
Toby Capstick, Lead Respiratory Pharmacy, St James’ University Hospital Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust
This is an extremely useful show – I wouldn’t be here otherwise. It’s a good opportunity to talk to suppliers on the stand and look at all the equipment – you just can’t assess products properly on the internet. And the variety of speakers keeps me up to date in all areas of pharmacy.
Ed England, Chief Hospital Pharmacist, South Central Ambulance Service
This is one of the few shows that’s really relevant to us. Whether you are from hospitals, DOH or a specialist area, junior or senior, you are covered with this show. The seminars are pitched just right and the leadership and management seminars have been really good; it’s so useful to hear what other people are doing.
Puneet Sharma, Deputy Chief Pharmacist, University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust
I’m learning more about my own field as well as others that I don’t specialise in. Being here has given me ideas of how we can improve the way we operate.
Ngozi Onuorah, Pharmacy Technician, St Charles Hospital
I’m here to talk to the companies exhibiting. This is the ideal forum to discuss issues with the exhibitors on your own terms, you don’t get the hard sell that you might on other occasions.
Asim Mirza, North East London Local Pharmaceutical Committee
With the name Clinical Pharmacy Congress, you just know that there is going to be relevant education at this show. I also really like being able to visit all the different stands to learn about the latest products. It’s been really beneficial.
Shayi Shali, Hospital Pharmacist, Princess Alexandra Hospital
This show is an ideal way of keeping up to date with the industry. The sessions are a good opportunity to see what others are doing.
Tracey Tisley, Pharmacy Technician Training Facilitator, London Pharmacy Education & Training
I don’t get much opportunity to get out and network with other pharmacists, so this show has been great for that. The sessions are really good and have given me lots of tips and ideas that I’ll investigate further when I get back.
Octavio Aragon Cuevos, Special Hospital Pharmacist, Alder Hey Childrens NHS Foundation Trust.
I’m amazed by the turnout of this show. It’s fantastic to see such large audiences in the sessions. I hope the show will continue to go from strength to strength.
Sharron Millen, Head of Clinical Pharmacy, Southampton General Hospital
It’s much easier to learn here than from books and papers. You also get the chance to network and speak to companies on the stands. This is a very useful show for me.
Lydia Wang, Pharmacy Manager, BMI The Kings Oak and Cavell Hospitals
An excellent show. It’s great for networking, sharing information and learning from other pharmacists. Really marvellous.
Charity Okoli, Pharmacist, East London Mental Health Trust
The show has a nice mix of education, networking and exhibition stands. I can learn more here by listening to the experiences of other pharmacists than anywhere else.
Rashmi Tribedi, Pharmacy Technician, Barnet Hospital
All pharmacists need to have a clinical perspective and having such a wide range of sessions at the show to dip in and out of is so useful. I’ve found it difficult to find an event that fulfils my requirements, but this show does.
Cathy Cooke, Head of Medicines Management, Bristol Community Health CIC
All of the conferences we go to are focused on cancer; so this is the only opportunity we get to meet general pharmacists. There’s been a lot of interest in our stand and for me personally, the show’s allowed me to catch up with more general areas of pharmacy. A very interesting event.
Jacky Turner, Specialist Hospital Pharmacist, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust
This conference is about real pharmacists sharing what they do with real patients. The show is busy and the delegates are really keen. I’ve never been to a conference before where there’s a full audience in the last sessions of the day.
Matthew Shaw, Deputy Director, Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education
