To discuss best practice in optimising cost-effective patient care via originator to biosimilar switches. I will cover the significance of biosimilar use and the British Society of Rheumatology’s (BSR) position statement for biosimilar medicines. The following topics will also be discussed: key learning points gained, patient and personal experience of biosimilar use, potential pitfalls, shared decision making, strategy of switching and horizon scanning.
