This session will give an introduction to how hospital pharmacy is organized in Norway and how Norway and especially the South-East region in Norway has approached implementation of closed loop medication management (CLMM). The work carried out by the EAHP Special Interest Group on Automated Medication Management and the new EAHP evaluation tool for assessment of maturity of hospital/hospital pharmacy with regards to level of automated medication management will be descibribed. The importance for good data structure when implementing CLMM will be explained with the example of the new Norwegian national masterdata/basicdata for medicationpurpose in hospital (SAFEST) based on EMA standard. A introduction to a novel approach for clinical pharmacy using system assisted pharmacy validation/check of medication appropriateness will also be given.
