Psychotropic medication in children and young people’s mental health in-patient services

Psychotropic medication in children and young people’s mental health in-patient services

The prevalence of mental health problems for children and young people is rising significantly as is the prescribing of psychotropic medications. This issue is important for all primary and secondary care pharmacists. Concerns about overprescribing, limited review and psychotropic polypharmacy are key findings of the Psychotropic Medication in Children and Young People’s Mental Health In-patient Services quality improvement programme. This team presentation will not only provide the findings of the programme but also present the views of the young people themselves and of the parent carers.
