An update on asthma and new national guidelines - a paradigm shift

Opportunity or challenge?  The new asthma guidelines are a paradigm shift.  This session will outline the new joint national asthma guidelines, the key changes and what they mean in practice for health care teams and patients for improved patient and planetary health.

Asthma outcomes for the UK are the worst compared to Europe.  Pharmacy teams have a key role in patient care, including shared decision making and adherence to therapy. This session will discuss the key changes to the national asthma guidelines and how you can implement them in practice for better patient care with a focus on diagnosis and pharmacological management of asthma.

By the end of the session attendees will be able to:
  • Describe key updates to the asthma guideline in terms of diagnosis and pharmacological management of asthma.
  • Discuss the role of shared decision making and its application to asthma management for holistic and environmentally sustainable care.
Chairperson
Michelle Styles, Regional Manager - CPPE
