1. Understanding Acne Presentation and Diagnosis
- Recognize the clinical features of acne vulgaris, as well as associated psychological impacts.
- Differentiate acne vulgaris from other skin conditions with similar presentations
2. Management Strategies in Primary Care
- Identify appropriate first-line treatments for acne vulgaris, including topical therapies and systemic options
3. Recognizing Red Flags
- Identify red flags such as acne fulminans, nodular or cystic acne with scarring risk, and severe psychological distress linked to acne.
- Recognise when acne is unresponsive to standard treatments and requires specialist input.
4. Referral Criteria and Pathways
- Outline clear referral pathways for patients with severe or refractory acne to dermatology or mental health services when appropriate.
5. Patient-Centered Care
- Develop skills to educate patients and promote shared decision-making about their condition and treatment options
