Patient safety, experience and outcomes – why EDI must be integral to pharmacy practice

09 May 2025
Leadership & Professional Development Theatre

Patient safety and experience often go hand in hand. To provide the best possible care to the diverse populations we serve, cultural competence has to be an integral component of the patient safety agenda.

  • Understand the concept of equality, diversity and inclusion within a healthcare context.
  • Explain the importance of EDI principles in promoting a safe and effective healthcare environment.
  • Recognise how discrimination based on race, gender, disability, or other factors, can affect patient care and safety.
  • Discuss the consequences of implicit bias and stereotyping on health outcomes.

Amandeep Doll, Head of Professional Belonging and Engagement - Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Samantha Quaye, Co-Founder - Pharmacy Technicians of Colour (PTOC)
