Pharmacy Technicians: making an impact as a clinical expert and leader in primary care

08 May 2026
MORPh Theatre
Pharmacy technicians are playing an increasingly critical role in delivering safe, effective, and sustainable primary care services. This session explores how pharmacy technicians can move beyond traditional technical functions to become confident clinical experts and influential leaders within multidisciplinary teams. Using real‑world examples from primary care practice, the session will showcase how pharmacy technicians contribute to medicines optimisation, patient safety, service improvement, and workforce resilience. It will also examine the leadership behaviours, clinical skills, and professional confidence needed to maximise impact at practice and PCN level. Attendees will gain insight into the evolving scope of pharmacy technician roles, the value they bring to patients and systems, and how empowering this workforce supports better outcomes across primary care. This session is relevant to pharmacy professionals, leaders, and educators shaping the future pharmacy workforce.
