A guidance for expanding prescribing scope of practice
The number of non-medical prescribers across all professions is increasing and are increasingly being seen as a necessity to deliver improved patient outcomes by the health and social care system. Welsh Government has commissioned the Royal Pharmaceutical Society to work with key stakeholders across the UK to develop guidance for all healthcare professionals wanting to expand their “prescribing scope of practice”. This guidance provides a structure to support prescribers to identify their developmental needs, highlights ways in which these needs can be met, and offers a structure to document the process and outcome. The document provides a selection of case studies across a range of professions and settings to illustrate the process. This session will provide details of the guidance and its practical application for non-medical prescribers across all professions and health and social care settings
