ABC of cardiovascular
There have been significant improvements in reducing premature deaths due to cardiovascular disease, however, cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a significant cause of disability and death in England.
This session will look at the importance of reducing cardiovascular disease burden throughout the UK. With an estimated 7 million people living with CVD in England it contributes to just over a quarter of deaths each year. We will be looking at strategies to optimise identification of those at risk and how we can optimise treatments for those with CVD, focussing on atrial fibrillation, high blood pressure and raised cholesterol.
- awareness of national targets to improve CVD metrics.
- understand the current gaps (opportunities) for improving CVD optimisation with pharmacists.
- sharing ideas and projects that can lead to improved CVD outcomes.
