Antimicrobial Medicines Optimisation
NHS England and NHS Improvement has appointed a national clinical lead for pharmacy and prescribing for the antimicrobial resistance programme - Kieran Hand - supported by a team of regional antimicrobial stewardship leads. This session will provide an overview of the strategic objectives for antimicrobial medicines optimisation and some examples of high-priority national initiatives being developed and implemented.
Elizabeth Beech is the regional AMS lead for the South West region and will describe recent developments in Antimicrobial Stewardship improvement for children in primary care. How to use routine data to identify opportunities for improvement using the recently published NHSBSA ePACT2 Antimicrobial Stewardship dashboard - Children. Following this session there may be an opportunity to join an informal live demo
1. Awareness of the strategic objectives for the antimicrobial prescribing and medicines optimisation workstream of the NHSEI antimicrobial resistance Programme.
2. Understanding of the detail of and rationale for some of the strategic priorities for the workstream over the next 1-2 years.
3. Insights into the ePACT2 Antimicrobial Stewardship dashboard - Children.
4. Understand how the Children's dashboard can be used to identify opportunities for antimicrobial stewardship improvement within NHS integrated care systems and primary care networks.
