Pharmacogenomics and Medicines Optimisation Network of Excellence

NHSE has funded a Network of Excellence for Pharmacogenomics and Medicines Optimisation, but what is the purpose of the network and how is it relevant to routine pharmacy practice? This session will outline some of the work happening within this innovative network with key examples of how it is advancing the implementation of pharmacogenomics into mainstream healthcare and supporting medicines optimisation. Hear about developments in pharmacist research opportunities and the key role for pharmacy professionals in delivering the benefits of pharmacogenomics for patients.

Learning outcomes:
• Recognise the relevance of pharmacogenomics to pharmacy practice and hear about the work going on in the NHS Network of Excellence for Pharmacogenomics and Medicines Optimisation • Identify new & upcoming pharmacogenomic scenarios
• Describe how the PROGRESS study is exploring the delivery of pharmacogenetics in primary care and involvement of pharmacy professionals
