Colin Brennan

Deputy Chief Pharmacist - Clinical Services, Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
I qualified in 2004 and have worked at Aintree University Hospital since. I have worked in Surgery and pain management now for over 10 years and am lucky enough to manage a team of advanced clinical pharmacists across a number of surgical specialities. I am passionate about the surgical management of patients including their pain management and have been lucky enough to be able to co-chair the UKCPA Surgery and Theatres committee. Since taking on this role i now sit on the advisory board of CPOC. Pain management is a subject I have always been interested in but given that Trusts are now reducing length of stay i am conscious the impact this will have on primary care with regards to patients being discharged on strong opioids and am keen to explore ways we can minimise the risk to patients and reduce the opioid burden across primary care.
