Denise is the Chief Pharmaceutical Officer’s Clinical Fellow based at Specialist Pharmacy Service (SPS). Denise has extensive clinical experience in secondary care where she provided clinical, operational and governance leadership as Lead Pharmacist for Biologics and Homecare. Denise has worked on Trust wide digital health technology transformation projects as a certified Epic® analyst, and antimicrobial pharmacist. As well as a clinical diploma, Denise holds a research master’s degree in Clinical Pharmacy Practice, and is an experienced independent prescriber. At SPS, Denise has lead on various projects including creating the monthly slide deck highlighting work published within the multifunctions of SPS to Chief Pharmacists and senior leaders in the system. Delivering educational ‘on the couch’ webinars and interviewing speakers, as well as contributing to the organisation of the inaugural SPS conference, most recently leading on a project with RMOCs and the Pharmacogenomics alliances. Denise chairs the SPS Pharmacy Integration Fund (PhIF) communications work stream, and sits on the PhIF board. Denise is involved in projects with NHS England including the allocation and distribution of oral covid-19 antiviral medicines wider deployment, and publications to support clinicians in decision making when prescribing oral antiviral medicines for covid-19 treatments. Denise is working with the behavioural change team a day a week on the Inclusive Pharmacy Practice recruitment checklist. She is a contributing member of the RPS hospital standards task and finish group, RPS Advanced Framework equality impact assessment group and took part in the Black History month campaign shining a light on Pharmacists of black heritage.
