Elsy is one of the many overseas women pharmacists providing services to the NHS. Born In Cuba, she obtained her pharmacist qualifications at the University of Havana. A fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Elsy has worked at numerous NHS Trust where she has held leadership positions while working as specialist pharmacist. Elsy is a passionate advocate of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). She is an altruistic, self-starter and innovative leader. Elsy has founded organisations to promote public speaking, leadership and racial equality. In 2018, Elsy founded the UK Black Pharmacist Association (UKBPA) and she is currently the president. In 2019, she founded “Romford Speakers,” an affiliated club of Toastmasters International. In February 2020, she served as member of the PDA Union for South East Regional Committee and in December 2020 Elsy became the first president of the PDA BAME Network. Elsy supports the “Action for Trustee Racial Diversity” campaign as volunteer and is also member of the Chemist and Druggist Women in Pharmacy Board. Currently, she holds two roles in the NHS working as pharmacist and as Workforce EDI Lead. She also co-chairs the South East NHS Inclusion Regional Network.
