Emma Kirk - NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service

Emma Kirk

MSO Network Lead, NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service
Emma is the Medication Safety Officer (MSO) Network Lead where she provides expert medication safety advice and support to MSOs across England. In her national role, she works closely with NHS England, the Medicines Safety Improvement Programme (MedSIP) team, and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to advance the national medication safety agenda. Emma also serves as the Lead Pharmacist for Transformation and Medicines Safety, and MSO at a specialist NHS Trust. In this role, she ensures that both local and national learning is effectively shared across the organisation and the wider healthcare system. Her focus is on driving system-level changes that improve the safety and effectiveness of medicines use. Earlier in her career, Emma trained as a resident pharmacist in a large London teaching hospital, where she gained broad clinical experience across multiple specialties, with several years working in paediatrics. Emma considers herself a medication safety activist, passionate about embedding safer practices into everyday care and transforming systems to reduce harm from medicines.
