Pharmacy Workforce Lead / Programme Development Lead, Joined Up Care Derbyshire ICS / Buttercups Training
Gail started her pharmacy technician career in 1989 as a student pharmacy technician at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary. Specialising in aseptic services, after qualifying, she relocated to Yorkshire to run the aseptic department at Harrogate District Hospital where she completed the BTEC Level 4 in Aseptics Services at the University of Derby. She also taught part time at Bradford College on the BTEC pharmacy services programme. In 2005, she made a permanent move to work in Further Education where she ran the Vocational Science department at Bradford College. In this role she completed a formal teaching qualification (PCET) and a Masters of Education in ICT. She relocated home to Derbyshire in 2017, and currently has a portfolio career as the Pharmacy Workforce Lead for Joined Up Care Derbyshire ICS and as the Programme Development Lead for Buttercups Training Limited. She is in her fourth year of a part time Doctorate in Clinical Education (DClinEd) with the University of Leeds, where she is currently writing her thesis on 'Peer discussion in Practice: Experiences of Pharmacy Technicians in the Participation of Revalidation for Registration'.
