Gemma is an experienced Pharmacy Technician having worked in secondary care for 20 years. Gemma started her career in Community Pharmacy as a Medicines Counter Assistant. During this role she discovered her passion for Pharmacy, she moved to Secondary Care where she worked as an Assistant Technical Officer before undertaking her Pharmacy Technician training.
Once qualified as a Pharmacy Technician Gemma completed her Accredited Checking Qualification, rotated through all areas of Secondary Care e.g. Aseptics, Medicines Management, Dispensary etc. Gemma’s enthusiasm to make a difference to patient care led her to attain the role of a Specialist Pharmacy Technician for Overprescribing and The Discharge Medicines Service. Gemma’s current role involves the development, implementation and continued management of the innovative, integrated work of the Overprescribing and DMS Team across the ICS.
Gemma’s passion is patient care and ensuring an outstanding experience for patients during their healthcare journey across the system.
