Julia was awarded a professional doctorate in 2009 for her research on evidence based clinical pharmacy for older people in secondary care. Her areas of interest are person-centred care, health inequalities and appropriate polypharmacy. She currently heads a team of more than 50 pharmacy professionals delivering care in GP practice, care home, hospice, domiciliary and virtual ward settings across Newcastle upon Tyne, attributing their success to a collaborative leadership model; she enjoys the variety and complexity of working with the other statutory organisations and providers in the city, though not the politics. Julia credentialed as a Consultant Pharmacist earlier this year.
