Advanced Specialist Pharmacist for Overprescribing and The Discharge Medicines Service,

Lydia began her pharmacy career in community pharmacy as a Medicines Counter Assistant, where she discovered her passion for pharmacy and went on to begin her MPharm at Cardiff University in 2014.
Following this, Lydia undertook her Pre-Registration Pharmacist year at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. She worked here as a rotational pharmacist, rotating through many areas of secondary care, plus completing rotations at HMP Berwyn. During this time, she also completed the Cardiff University Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy.
Lydia’s keen interest in optimising medication and supporting patients with their medication post-discharge, led her to attain her current role as an Advanced Specialist Pharmacist for Overprescribing and Discharge Medicines Service in May 2022. Since then, she has also completed the Independent Prescribing course in February 2023. Lydia’s role involves leading on the development and management of the DMS, plus implementing and developing novel strategies to address medication overprescribing within the ICS.
