Dr Paul Downie is a Consultant Lipidologist & Chemical Pathologist at the University Hospitals of Bristol NHS Foundation Trust and is a Specialist CVD advisor to the West of England Health Innovation Network. He has an active interest in the optimisation of lipids in secondary prevention, lipoprotein(a) and hypertriglyceridemia. He also established the only National Genomic test assay for the investigation of genetic causes of severe hypertriglyceridemia. Formerly a GP partner he understands the challenges faced by colleagues in general practice and is passionate about the need to bring a pragmatic approach to patient care.
