Currently Ron undertakes consultancy roles for the NHS (hospitals and DH) and the Pharmaceutical Industry having retired as Secondary Care Pharmaceutical Adviser to the Department of Medicines Optimisation at Keele University. Ron was formerly secondary care pharmaceutical adviser to the former NHS West Midlands Region and prior to that clinical director of pharmacy and medicine management services for the Dudley Group of Hospitals. He is author or co-author of a wide range of publications/research papers and has contributed chapters to a number of textbooks relating to pharmacy practice and medicines use. His wide experience has resulted in him being directly involved in a number of national reports and reviews affecting hospital pharmacy services. He is a past president of the GHP and was former honorary secretary to the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists. In 1997 he was designated a fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. In the 2012 Queen’s Birthday Honours list, he was awarded an MBE for services to hospital pharmacy.
