Sacha Pires is a Highly Specialist HIV pharmacist at the Graham Hayton Unit based at Whitechapel, part of Barts Healthcare.
She has been a qualified pharmacist since 2003. She has completed her pre-registration training and foundation training at King’s College Hospital as part of the STEP programme.
Sacha started working in HIV in 2006 initially at King’s College Hospital moving to Brighton in 2007 till 2018. She has worked as a Senior HIV Pharmacist at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital during 2013. While in Brighton she was part of the OPAT team since 2014.
Sacha became part of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Faculty Advance Level II in 2015 and completed her Independent Prescribing Course at the University of Brighton during 2016.
Sacha became Treasurer for HIVPA in 2009 and took on the dual role of Deputy Chair and Treasurer in 2013. She was the HIVPA representative on the national Halve-It Campaign. Current roles include being part of the BHIVA Audit and Standards Sub-Committee. In 2017 she completed her Master in Infectious Diseases at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine as part of the distance learning programme. Sacha has co-written a book chapter on ‘HIV’ in Drugs in Use.
