Zahir is a proven pharmacy leader who has held senior roles at NHS trusts /CCGs/ Commissioning Support Units and currently leads the pharmacy and supply chain team within medicines procurement and supply directorate (NHSE) and is a member of the senior leadership team.
Zahir leads the medicines resilience work streams for NHSE, in addition to overseeing all medicines shortage mitigations for secondary care hospitals in England, Zahir has delivered several key work programmes to move the system away from reactive shortage mitigation to proactive supply chain management. These work programmes include designing and delivering cross industry mandatory buffer stock holding for all NHSE medicines frameworks holders, data driven inventory modelling to support supply chain management and a move towards joint reporting of medicines supply issues to NHSE/ DHSC and is currently leading a system wide project to incentivise new entrants to the UK market to support medicines resilience .
