    Early career pharmacist pathway
From Autumn 2026, pharmacists in England will join the register as independent prescribers for the first time. This landmark shift demands a new, coherent, and equitable national approach to early post registration development. In response, NHS England is launching the Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway (PEPP) Pilot, a structured, cross sector offer for newly qualified Early Career Pharmacist prescribers. The PEPP pilot introduces consistent induction, commissioned learning modules, an RPS aligned curriculum, a single e-portfolio, and funded access to educational supervision—addressing long standing variation in training, support and development opportunities across sectors.
